The Goal Setting Process

Everyone should set personal and business goals. Goals should be set daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly.

Any successful business owner is aware of the importance of setting short- and long-range goals for the success of the company. All employees will function better when they set and achieve goals. Goals for an employee can be as simple as deciding to produce a certain number of pieces by the end of the week. A longer-term goal might be to move from entry level position to manager of the department within two or three years. Both employees' and managers’ goals can be formulated in conjunction to achieve the best outcome for all.

The goal setting process is as follows:

1) Write down your goals and discuss them openly
2) Make the goals challenging
3) Model your goals on someone you admire and respect

After setting your goals break down the steps you'll to achieve daily to reach your goals and objectives. If you are part of a team set and discuss goals with your fellow team members.

Seek suggestions from other team (or family) members on how to best accomplish your goals and set deadlines for achieving each step.

Listen to others and be prepared to take advice especially if it comes from someone with experience and credibility. Actively seek out others with experience in what you are trying to achieve because they can give you useful information on how to achieve your goals.
